I am interested in what makes animals what they are. How do they perceive the world? Why do they behave the way they do. Have therefor swerved along methods of systems, sensory and behavioural neuroscience.
Outside The Lab: I love going to the gym, and play some basketball. Art matters! Appreciative of the poetic.

PhD - (Pursuing) Neuroscience at Academic Sinica, Affiliated to National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan
MS - Electronic Engineering at Ming Chi University of Technology, Taiwan
BS - Microbiology at Techno India University, India
From a not-so-studious kid, I fell in love with the lab and never looked back. Now, I’m captivated by the brilliant irony that something as small as the brain can command the whole body and create the sensory wonders that set animals apart in nature.
If I’m not in the lab, I’m dancing, cooking up something delicious, turning canvases into colorful experiments, scribbling thoughts into stories, wandering off on travel adventures, or pretending my fashion-and-shopping hobby is research too.

Research Assistant

Taiwan International Internship Program Intern
Aneek Mallick
B.Tech: ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology, India
Curious mind with a love for technology, science, and understanding how circuits and systems work to process and transmit signals.
Outside academics, I enjoy sports, music, nature walks, and discovering new places and cultures.

IBMS Intern
Mohammad Uzair
BS: Biotechnology at International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan
MS: Lifesciences at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
My research interest focuses on understanding how genes and regulatory factors within specific brain cell populations, particularly neurons, glia, and immune cells, interact as integrated molecular and cellular networks, and how these integrated signaling processes across brain regions shape neural processing, affective functions, and circuit-level computation in both health and disease.
Outside the lab: I enjoy exploring nature, particularly waterfalls and natural landscapes, through long nature walks. I also enjoy cooking, trying new dishes, and spending time with cats.
Places I've been to or I've lived in: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Australia

International Internship Pilot Program Intern
Younes Kettani
BSc: Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane
I am curious about everything. I want to know how things work, why they are the way they are, how they became like that, and what we can do with them. I like asking questions, too many questions, that's how I learn.
My interests jump between science, technology, nature, animals, the human body, robotics, anything that makes me think: “Wait, how does this actually work?”
I enjoy learning by doing, building projects, solving puzzles, and exploring ideas that can become something useful in real life.
Outside the lab: I like discovering new places, meeting people from different backgrounds, hiking, spending time in nature, and learning about animals. I also like teaching, cooking, and discovering dishes from all around the world. I enjoy robotics, creating new things, solving complex problems, and finding out more about how the human body works.
Places I’ve been to: Morocco, Spain, France, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, and Finally Taiwan

International Internship Pilot Program Intern
Nicole Elise Gomez Gebhart
BS: Nanotechnology and Molecular Engineering, University of the Americas Puebla (UDLAP), Mexico
Master Student: Erasmus Mundus Master of Science in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (EMM Nano), specializing in Nanotheranostics and Nanomedicine
My love for medicine began long before nanotechnology. As a paramedic, I saw firsthand how science can improve peoples’ lives. I am now interested in the use of nanotechnology in health care, especially in understanding and treating diseases of the brain and cardiovascular system.
My research journey has taken me from animal models and neuroscience related research to nanomedicine and biomedical applications. What I find most exciting is being able to translate scientific discoveries into technologies that can really make a difference in the lives of patients.
Outside of the lab, I am also an artist and a small business owner. I enjoy painting, illustrating and being creative. I also play a lot of videogames, love spending time outdoors, and whenever possible, being near the ocean.
